Spoilers: SmackDown! Spoilers for 9-16

WWE taped this week’s edition of WWE SmackDown! last night from the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan. The full results can be read below:

- The show opens with the Peep Show featuring Christian. Alberto Del Rio comes out and interrupts. Del Rio rants about the only thing Christian needs to know about him is what he did to Rey Mysterio. Christian says he has survived greats in WWE and challenged Del Rio to a match at Night of Champion. Del Rio declined then said he’ll think about it before tapping Christian on the cheek. Christian spins Del Rio around and slaps him which sends him retreating. Del Rio screams “NO” at him on his way up the ramp.

- WWE Tag Team Champions The Hart Dynasty vs. “Dashing” Cody Rhodes & Drew McIntyre in a non-title match. Winners via Cody Rhodes hitting Cross Rhodes on David Hart Smith, “Dashing” Cody Rhodes & Drew McIntyre.

- Kofi Kingston comes out and cuts a promo on WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler. He says all Dolph does is hide behind Vickie Guerrero and calls her a “loud mouth, nasty, beast of a woman”. Kofi is sure he’ll win at Night of Champions on Sunday and will rid the WWE Universe of Vickie and Dolph.

- Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger. Swagger was in control of the match for 80% of it. The crowd was actually chanting for Swagger through part of it. Kofi ends up hitting a spin kick to the head of Swagger and pins him to win the match.

- They continue to hype Kane vs. The Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions on Sunday.

- Backstage, Teddy Long is with Hornswoggle and a nun (no, I’m not making this up). The nun is trying to teach Hornswoggle his ABC’s as Hornswoggle plays a prank on Long, getting him in trouble.

- Kelly Kelly & Rosa Mendes w/Naomi vs. WWE Women’s Champions LayCool w/Kaval. Winners via Michelle McCool pinning Rosa Medes, LayCool.

- CM Punk vs. Christian with Alberto Del Rio at ringside with announcers. Punk and Christian work with on another until they bump heads and both go down. They begin to stir when the referee gets to the count of nine. Del Rio interrupts the match but Punk counters and hits GTS. Punk leaves the ring but Del Rio follows. Big Show comes out and goes to the ring. When Punk gets back in, Show hits the knockout punch on him.

- World Heavyweight Champion Kane comes out and cuts a promo on The Undertaker. He says their rivalry will end on Sunday at Night of Champions. Kane says no holds barred is exactly what he wanted. The Undertaker’s music hits and he comes out. The lights go out and when they come back up Kane is behind Undertaker at the top of the ramp. Kane and Undertaker exchange blows but move to the ring. Kane hits a chokeslam and a piledriver on The Undertaker. The pyros go off in the ring posts and Kane leaves ringside.

8 - 20 SmackDown *Spoilers*

SmackDown (Airing Friday):

* They show opened with a hype video about Kane giving his explanation for taking out The Undertaker from later in the show. Rey Mysterio comes out to the ring thanking the fans and saying he’s relieved that his name was cleared. He’s interrupted by Alberto Del Rio, who came to the ring and started insulting Rey. Rey slaps Del Rio, then hit the 619. Del Rio just looked and smiled at Rey as he went to the back. The main event was then announced as Del Rio in his in-ring debut taking on Mysterio.

* A vignette for “Dashing” Cody Rhodes’ grooming tips aired.

* Kofi Kingston b. Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler w/Vickie Guerrero via in a non-title match when Vickie interfered. After the match, Vickie taunted Kofi to hit her, but Dolph attacks him from behind. Dolph beat down Kofi, applying a sleeper hold and stomping his head against the mat.

* LayCool cut a promo backstage dissing Melina as the new Divas Champion, setting up there segment on next week’s RAW. Hornswoggle was in the background spying on them.

* The Straight-Edge Society, minus CM Punk, comes out. Joey Mercury, Luke Gallows and Serena are complaining about Punk leaving them behind at SummerSlam as he enters the frame. Punk says he left so they could prove themselves as strong individuals. He says he is going to test them starting with Serena and Gallows, who if they don’t beat their opponents Big Show and Kelly Kelly up next, they would be kicked out of the SES.

* Luke Gallows & Serena w/The Straight-Edge Society b. Big Show & Kelly Kelly after Serena hit a gutbuster on Kelly for the win. After the match, Punk entered the ring with a pleased look on his face as he hugged Serena and congratulated Gallows.

* Kane came out to give his explanation of attacking The Undertaker, citing this has been a 15-year plan of his to take out his brother. Kane goes on to say more disturbing things about planning the attack, basically saying he’s glad he did what he did.

* Christian b. Drew McIntryre with a roll-up with “Dashing” Cody Rhodes on commentary. After the match, Cody gets in the ring as he and Drew start beating down on Christian. Matt Hardy tries to come out for the save, but he was destroyed right away and left lying.

* Jack Swagger comes out for a segment with MVP. The two go back and forth the entire time. In the end, Swagger challenges MVP to a match next week with the stipulation being if he wins, he gets to host his own version of the VIP Lounge. MVP accepts.

* Kane is backstage in Teddy Long’s office. Long tells Kane that he has it on good authority The Undertaker will make his long awaited return to SmackDown on next week’s show. Kane says that it would be hell on earth for his brother come next week.

* Alberto Del Rio comes out for his match with his own introduction from his personal Spanish ring announcer. Mysterio is out next.

* Alberto Del Rio b. Rey Mysterio via submission with an arm bar. The match was back and forth throughout with tons of offense from both men. Mysterio at one point nearly won with the 619, but Del Rio countered it. After the match, Del Rio made his way up the ramp with a shot of Mysterio in the ring as the show ends.

SmackDown (Airing Friday):

* The show opens with Vickie Guerrero in the ring. She introduced the new Intercontinental champion and her boyfriend, Dolph Ziggler. They talked about going on vacation to Tahiti to celebrate his first singles title victory, but Kofi Kingston hits the ring and starts beating down Dolph. The referees came out to break it up, followed by Teddy Long, who said for Vickie and Dolph to cancel their travel plans, because it’s going to be Dolph vs. Kofi at SummerSlam for the IC Title.

* He also announced that the SmackDown main event would be Dolph vs. Rey Mysterio. Vickie became upset and said if Dolph had to wrestle tonight, so should Kofi, so she booked Kofi vs Kane. Teddy started saying she was only the consultant, and she had no power, but Kofi cut him off and said he wasn’t a coward like Dolph and would face Kane…right now.

* World Heavyweight Champion Kane b. Kofi Kingston in a non-title match with a chokeslam and then a tombstone piledriver. After the match, Kane cut a promo about how Rey Mysterio was desperate and that’s why he (Rey) took out The Undertaker. Rey came out to cut Kane off and said Kane had the most to gain by attacking Taker.

* “Dashing” Cody Rhodes b. Christian with the Cross Rhodes.

* Big Show b. three local wrestlers in a Handicap match after chokeslamming 2 of the guys and delivering the Knockout punch to the other. CM Punk and the Straight-Edge Society watched from the stage. After the match, Luke Gallows started to cut a promo, but Punk took the mic from him and asked, “Who gave you a mic?” Punk then cut a promo hyping the match between SES and Show for SummerSlam on Sunday.

* Drew McIntyre b. Matt Hardy with the Future Shock DDT. Hardy had to be helped to the back afterward due to McIntyre slamming his ankle against the steel steps earlier in the match.

* A vignette aired on Alberto Del Rio saying we will see his debut next week.

* Jack Swagger came out next and talked about all his recent problems. MVP cuts him off saying at this time last year, he was beating Swagger at SummerSlam. Swagger attacked MVP and threw him to the outside. Swagger eventually rolled MVP back in the ring and the bell rang to begin the match.

* MVP b. Jack Swagger with a roll-up. Swagger was dominant during most of the match.

* Rey Mysterio b. Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler in a non-title match with a roll-up. About halfway through the match, Rey had Dolph set up for the 619, but Kane’s pyro went off and he came out with a casket and watched the remainder of the match at ringside. Immediately after the match, Kane hopped on the apron, but Rey fought him off, and eventually knocked him into the casket. Kane quickly got out and bolted up the ramp to end the show.
